Re: Using Front Calipers on Rears (Mean Green 2000)
You probably know this already but I heard the only problem is that you would have to make a braket and relocate the parking brake mechanism on the rear. Hope that helps
Re: Using Front Calipers on Rears (Mean Green 2000)
Mark, I have had my rotors and calipers off. I can tell you this. The Caliper Bracket is EXACTLY the same for the front as it is for the rear. that being said means that the front calipers WILL Fit on the rear Caliber Brackets. Now you need a bigger surface for the larger diameter front brake pads. I guess that another set of front rotors would fit on the back. If you did this you would loose the parking brake.
This is all theory based on one fact. That the caliper brackets are the same. So mounting the Calipers is not the issue.
It would be worth a try while you have your car apart. Did you get the Calipers powder coated yet?
Re: Using Front Calipers on Rears (Mean Green 2000)
damn....I was hoping for something costing a little less $.....I'll have to call and talk to Nate and see what we can work out....I already have the brakes, just need the brackets, etc :D
Re: Using Front Calipers on Rears (Mean Green 2000)
What's this do to the brake bias of the rears? I'd think the rears would be clamping down more due to the larger piston surface area. Might throw some curve ***** at you when hauling it down on that twisted off-ramp.
Re: Using Front Calipers on Rears (Mean Green 2000)
Personally, I would be nervous about upsetting the 'balance/proportionality' of the overall brake system. If the differences in the calipers were only 'cosmetic', then obviously this wouldn't matter but I'm not sure that's the only difference.
I wonder if someone at the FACTORY could be contacted for advice?
