The DIC system on my 2001 A4 'vert is flashing a warning that the ABS, Traction Control, and Active Handling systems are not working. Any suggestions on what to look for that I can try to remedy this at home before I take it to GM and get the shaft?
Run the codes so you can see them on the DIC and report back here so somebody can help you. Some codes are easy to fix and others are going to be expensive. To run the codes push and hold the options button while pushing the fuel button 4 times. This will put the car in automatic diagnostic mode. Codes are a letter followed by 4 numbers and then a C or an H or both. The codes you are looking for will start with a C.

Real common issue with C5's unfortunately. Seems a lot of people I run across who own C5's deal with this issue. Sometimes it's just an electrical (ground) issue, other times it's the ABS module itself.
As a matter of fact, my wife's '02 Z needs a new ABS module and GM has none. So we're looking like crazy to fine one...
First make sure that the pressure relief disc is not bad. It is located on the side of the ABS housing where the brake lines go into the housing.
ONe of the brake lines screw into a small module and if that module has any brake fluid coming out of the bottom, then the disc has bursted. You don't need to pull the ABS pump, all you need to do is replace the module.
Listen to Bill Dearborn. He knows what he's talking about. There's a lot you can do before taking it to someone else and Bill is a credible and high value source of info on this topic.

Thanks. I'll run these codes and report back. This was good information.

As suggested on my last post I ran codes on the DIC and got the following:
28-TCS C1214H C
99-HVAC B0361H
AO-LDCM B2282H
B2284H
A1-RDCM B2283H
B2285H
B2265H
If anyone can help me determine what these codes mean and what I can do to fix them it would be greatly appreciated. Is there a way to clear these to see if they come back up or do they clear themselves automatically when the problem is fixed or both? This is a 2001 A4 convertible. Has BPP induction, long tube headers, 4.10 gears.
I Have heard that the C1214 code may mean the EBCM is toast. What do the other codes mean and how do I chase them down? Could they be causing the EBCM to throw the C1214 code and do I need to chase them down forst to be sure I don't needlessly change an expensive part?
I have a few relays brand new, this is what absfixer and the other outfits actually fix, the HARD part is getting the unit apart. It's almost welded together with epoxy.
There is a post somewhere here with pics, use the advanced search function and poke around.
If your ABS module is toast and you don't feel like attempting the fix yourself, you can have it repaired and mailed back to you. I used http://www.absfixer.com with good results.
I also went through all the grounds in an attempt to fix the 1214. Ended up using "mandigital" on EBay to fix the EBCM. Smooth deal, lifetime guarantee. His price was way up to $60 when I last checked. He must do lots of units to justify that extremely low price. Also, Brandon at ABSfixer.com, for only $150, is very inexpensive and is highly regarded on this forum. The instructions on this forum are great, and will clearly guide you through to EBCM removal process. If you carefully bag and retain all the connectors, you can drive the car while the box is out for repair. The system is passive, and acts no differently with the 1214 or disconnected.

Good luck
Ken,
The ABS fixer R&R was real easy and only $150.00.....
Thanks for all your replies. I pulled the EBCM, sent it to the ABS Fixer, got it back today and installed it. No more codes so it appears this problem is fixed. Thanks again for the great help!
I can not get the traction codes to come up on my c6
