Tried to get some help in the search area and found nothing so here I am.I have located the venders that carry the new top that I want to install.I would really appreciate some ideas on wether I shoud pay the upholstery shop the $430.00 to install it or should I attempt to do it myself.I have above average mechanicle ability and have all the tools I need to do such a project but I still have doubts about doing it. myself. If anyone has some experience or ideas I would appreciate your advise
Thank You: Fred
The replacement of a top is not an easy install, of course it can be done but i would have it replaced by a pro. Im sure members have done the job. Just my 2 cents.........good luck

The weatherstrips must be removed and the new top is stapled on to the rails. The front rail is complicated. The cables that are in the top must be adjusted and the top must be put on and pulled tight then it is stapled
and adjusted. I watched a pro do one at a swap meet and he even had to use a heat gun to get the wrinkles out of the rear window. The job took the pro approx 4 hours so i believe it would take one of us quite a bit longer. I too have many tools but like bodywork, i would leave it to a pro. I hate to pay for anything i can do myself because i enjoy working on my car
but certain jobs require a pro good luck what ever way you go..............
It is an art to an install, watching someone that knows what their doing will make you appreaciate the $500 for the install (especially if it does NOT leak).
