Default Key Fob Problem

I only got 1 fob with my car. It could be programmed but walk 20' away and it wont work when you walk back. It will work if re-synchronized. Then walk away and back and no work. I purchased 2 new ones from an online dealer. I programmed them as 1 & 2 and the old one as 3. The new ones work fine but same deal with the old one. I only need 2 but its driving me crazy so I thought if anyone has any ideas. The passive switch on the remote is off but that makes no difference. The passive feature works fine with the new fobs. Like I said I don't need to fix the old one mostly curious.

May be weak battery.

Sounds like you may have a cold solder joint on the IC inside the FOB since it works sometimes and does not others. There are a couple post here showing the repair. If you open the FOB and look at the circuit board it is in the upper right corner, think it is 4 or 6 pins. Might want to look at the battery leads also as they cause problems sometime.

Check this post...but there are better ones with pictures. just need to search

You purchased two new ones from an online dealer? Do you mean Chevrolet dealer? I need two new ones myself. Could you tell me where you got them and about how much they cost? Thanks.

New battery. These are hard to find on the fob sites and cost more used than I paid for new ones. I will PM the person who asked where I got them.

I looked at the thread and then at my fob. I do belive that those connections could be the problem. I will try to fix it this weekend. I don't need it so much now but I hate to throw stuff away. A spare can't hurt anything.

If I remember correctly, you can only program the remotes to the car so many times even of it's the same remote, from there you need to erase the memory from the car and start from the beginning.
