Default Need some tech help! Traction Control. Please.

Well I have always gotten help for all from this forum (which is the best)for my 2000 C5 Corvertible that has given me some problems. Now I have the problem with my traction control. It stopped working. I have cleaned all my ground connections, which werent that corroded. The only code i get is the

28-tcs C1243H

I have also read that for 2000 the module is not repairable...

I expirience the most embarrassed moment of my life because of this CODE.
I was about to do a burnout at a competition. WEll me thinking to my self "hey my traction Control dont work i guess i can do it" WRONG!!! there was a big crowd that was just looking dissapointed. i was thinking to my self "DUMASSS". So i left with my head down wanted to crawl under a rock.

So hopefully someone can help.

Borrega, you have the very common stalled ABS motor.
I've been periodically fighting it on my 2000 for several years.
There are no replacement parts, and no one rebuilds that part of the system (BPMV).
Your alternatives are:
1. But a used BPMV from a wrecking yard.
2. "Excercise" the motor in your BPMV by running it awhile. There are a few ways to do this:
a. Go out on wet pavement and hammer the ABS brakes a few times from 50 MPH, and do some hard launches. Both will activate the motor.
b. Go to a dealer and have them excercise the motor with their GM scan tool.
c. Take the ABS unit apart, and run a 12V wire to the pin #8 in the BPMV internal connector, and spin the motor to loosen it up - several 1-minute sessions.

a. might work for awhile, but doesn't loosen up the motor very much.
b. is fairly expensivre I'm sure.
c. seems to work pretty well; last time I did it, I got it running pretty well and then did several long runs to really loosen it up.

Check the archives here under code 1243 and "exercising the ABS". lot's of good info.

Sounds like your TC did work.

28-tcs C1243H is a history code. Clear your codes and run them again and see if you have any current "C" codes.

Might try to turn your TC off next time, or put it in Competition mode.

If the code is C1243H it IS a history code. Clear your codes and run them again.

"its only one button do take off/on traction control"....IF you hold that button down for about five seconds it will go into competition mode and you will read it on the DIC.

Default maybe this will help...

Service ABS/Service Traction Control DTC C1243 H

When the car is started the system turns the ABS pump on and off and if the voltage readout is not high enough, code C 1243 is set and you get the messages. If you do not have the interface connector for the EBCM, pull the module away from the pump section. I measured the resistance of the pump motor from pin number 8 ((from left to right) (it is the first pin on the right hand connector) to the frame ground and it was in spec according to the manual. When a pump is new or has been rebuilt it requires some break in period. If a pump has not been used for some time it will also draw more current due to sediment build up and not being exercised. With this in mind I pushed a wire into pin 8 and ran it over close to the positive post of the battery so I could exercise the pump manually. The pump came on the first time I touched the positive post but sounded sluggish. I exercised the pump about 6 more times for about 15 to 20 seconds at a time. I put the EBCM back on the pump section cleared the codes. If you try this use a heavy gauge wire and be aware the wire may get warm as you touch the battery. The pumps on these ABS units are most likely not broken in since they hardly run during the life of the car.
