Default change starter help

so i need to swap my starter ive finally figured it out. new battery same results not starting. one click. so my next problem is i have long tube headers that cross over the starter so the space to pull out the starter is too small. whats the easiest way to go about this? disconnect header from block or can i disconnect from mid pipe and maybe get some wiggle room? i really dont want to replace header gasket but will if i have too. can i loosen the headers just enough from the block so that i dont have to replace the gasket and still can move the headers a little?

Unless you have super tiny hands you will have to undo your long tube from the Head and the pipe to drop it down low enough to get it out.

I just did the same thing tonight. I dropped the exhaust and that header. I used an MSD Starter.

It has a few shims that are "optional" there is still a bit of a grinding noise so I may have to go and repeat the process a few times.

I reused the gasket.

the msd starter I bought from Summit comes with optional spacers that push or pull the teeth of the starter away from the flywheel.

I went with non and there is a little grinding. I will redo and try some out unless someone chimes in with some experience.
