Default Air Intakes

I have read so many comments about different intakes till I cannot take any more. I am leaning to the Ram air by Vortex (cold air induction) and the
RM racing twin flow intake. Which one is the best Vortex cold air from the bottom or RM twin from the top?

Out of the two choices you have listed, it would be a no brainer for me--Vortex Rammer. Its hard to beat the gains of the Cold Air kits.

I've used to have the RM Racing intake but got very little power from it. I switched to the Blackwing and picked up several more hp and tq at the wheels and could feel the difference. The Vortex will be similar in hp/tq gains as the Blackwing.

I didn't get the Vortex because it's a bottom feeder and hydrolock could be a problem in the rain with my daily driver... so I got the Blackwing instead. You didn't mention if your C5 is driven in the rain or not -- so I'm just tossing this out as something else for you to consider. :) Good luck with your choice!

I've heard that the dual cone/twin flow systems are more hype than hp. I went with blackwing for ease of install but in your case I'd say vortex is you better bet.

The Vortex (and Proflow) are your best bet for a cheap, great performing Cold Air system. If you need an underhood system, the Donaldson is probably the best of them. All 3 are in the $200-240 range. Expect a .15-.2 sec improvement the quarter with an underhood, and a .3-.4 sec improvement with a COI. I went with the Vortex.

Also, get a good look (from underneath the car) at the cavity between the radiator and shroud. Notice all the leaves, dirt, debris etc. Is this where you want your air filter?

JMO - hands down the K&N FIPK. Comes with larger intake tubes, recharge kit and is CARB certified. Cut your shroud below and mount to the brackets provided to allow air to ram into the filter from below and cut about 1/3 of you fog light vents out to allow cold air to come into the engine compartment. That makes it a cold air intake that is not confined to a small box. Air filter is huge as well. I think they are all similar in gains but the K&N came with more for the money and that's what I'm looking for. :yesnod:

I install the vortex last night. :D :D :D I love it. They say that it takes a while to see the improvement. I noticed after driving about 10 miles. The midrange just kicks in. Definately the vortex.
