when I turn the key to turn the car off, the car vibrates as it shuts down. I didn't notice this while test driving. It's not a harsh vibration, but I can just really feel the engine shutting down. I also get a slight vibration at idle. It's not a rough idle, but it is almost as if I am in a built big block, like, that kind of vibration. Any ideas what this might be?
A normal C5? Seriously, what you described is typical. The slight roughness in the idle was in my car when I took delivery in '99. I asked about it at the time and was told to learn to ignore it... I would imagine if it could have been removed the powertrain guys would have gotten rid of it before production. I believe the "vibration" felt as the engine makes the final few revs before coming to a stop is just dropping into the natural frequency range of the drivetrain. If you push in the clutch before turning off the ignition it won't do it.

that is honestly what I thought, I just wasn't sure. This is my first time owning a true sports car that isn't made to be quiet, and be smooth. I figured it was normal, but wanted to check before my limited warranty ran out. haha
Put in in reverse and report back. All of them do it, its even in the owners manual to leave it in reverse to keep it from doing that. Its not going to hurt it if you dont however.
haha. no ****. I still have a lot to learn about this car. I went from a Hyundai Tiburon to an 06 Mustang GT, and had to learn to drive that car. Now I traded in the Stang to this, and I feel like I am starting all over again. haha. Thanks for the info though.
Pretty sure he didn't need a step-by-step guide for shutting down the car in reverse.
But yeah, just make sure the clutch is in when you power down and it shouldn't be bad. Sometimes I leave it in neutral when parking (only if the car is on level ground and I won't be away from it for long) and I still have the clutch depressed when killing it.
