Default Would you replace this clutch???

First off, I tore into my driveline to replace my slave cylinder and bearing. The bearing was squealing bad. I'm doing the work myself so there is no labor involved. I know since I'm in this far it is advisable to replace the clutch also but I have come across some unforeseen financial difficulties. The car is a 99 FRC with 85K on the clock. The car has been in my family for quite awhile so I know the history and it has had an easy life thus far, and to me, the clutch seems to be in very good shape. I never had any issues with it since I bought it 2 years ago. There is some visible hot spots but I don't know if it is anything abnormal. Please chime in. Thanks.

it sure is a lot of work to have it torn down that far, and not replace the clutch......

I agree. Going that far in. new LS7 clutch is only like $450, might as well do it. Make sure you replace the rear main seal though at the same time.

I would absolutely put in a new F/W, Clutch, PP, pilot bearing, and slave while it was apart.

You have quite a bit of friction material left, and you're replacing the slave which seems to be what actually breaks 9 times out of 10 with these cars anyway. If money is that tight, I'd say leave it. You obviously have the know how and tools to pull it down again anyway, so the only cost is your time. My clutch went out (slave popped) at around 80k, and it looked just like yours. I replaced it, but honestly it probably had another 80k in it ... farking slave.

It's getting to the end of it's life, but could last bit longer depending on your driving style. Some of the seperations on the friction are getting worn smooth, but not much. You could get the flywheel turned and use a little cheaper clutch setup since you don't seem to need a ton of holding power. Make sure the clutch and flywheel are balanced together.

If you're on a tight budget, put it back in-you'll probably get another 20k out of it if you don't beat on it.
But if you can afford it,now's the time to stick a new one in.
Whatever you decide to do with the clutch,be sure to replace the pilot bearing-little tiny $10 part, but just as much work to replace as the clutch, and yours has got to be getting pretty tired by now.
