I found this Tech 2 for $1350 + $80 shipping. The issue is that its just about too cheap for this item, for this price. The seller is in China but his feedback isn't too bad. I'm not allowed to post the site here on the forum of course but have to wonder if its a ripoff or if anyone else here has come across this deal? The picture is from the site advertisement and claims to have CANDI and so on, along with 2010 software. Thoughts?

Pass. I've seen too many guys ripped off with ebay seller in china.
That was my first thought and frankly, still is. But wondering if anyone here on the forum had seen this and bought one or not? The dude's selling status shows he's sold some of these with supposedly good feedback from the buyer, but of course, I don't believe everything I read either. I'm of the opinion that its the old saying...sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't true. Great price if it was the real thing and if it really worked.
Pass! it a rip off
You get what you pay for, please don't ask how I know!
Sometimes its a hard to get your money back from paypal, from a deal gone south
I just typed GM Tech 2 into Yahoo and found one for $1150 (not on the auction site). Its being sold by some sort of OBD scanner house in China. Looks like it is the same company as on an auction site but a lower cost due to not paying auction fees.

I bought one that came from a dealer. I got the laptop with all the PCM code as well. It works very well and there really aren't any more updates for the C5. There are a lot of chinese knock offs so buyer beware.

But the real Tech2 is made in China, isn't it???
Today, what isn't? Almost all the large US companies have moved to China, and US tech starts there and ends up at the check out line at Walmart and NAPA. Even several vendors here on the CF offer Chinese made products for our C5's, so why do we knock Chinese products so much??
I know that Vetronix was bought out by Bosche so Vetronix is gone now. I found quite a few of them on the auction site and was surprised by some of the low prices so as it was mentioned earlier, maybe obtaining one of them from a closed up dealer isn't such a bad idea. Certainly better than getting one from China with all the unknowns.

If it sounds too good to be true than it probably is.
Look at the investment people who lost their shirts with the Madoff's, Milkens, Boesky, etc .... of the world.
The scams from Nigeria, etc ... How many times do you need to be warned about these types of people before you just stay away from them.
Too many people thing they are lucky and are going to beat the system and end up getting taken.

If this is what your going to purchase given the rip off history....Then I have a bridge to sell you...just sent a money order and mail it to a country that you can not do one thing about if you get ripped off. Pay more and get what you paid for by only using USA based sites with a pay pal account.
This seller was only accepting PayPal but I've heard stories there too where someone would buy using PayPal, then the seller would delay shipment till the 30 days expired...PayPal would then reject the claim and say it was too late. I ran into this once myself and learned the lesson there even though I did manage to get my purchase eventually after lots of threats from me to them and so on.

Why do we say "deal gone South"?? How about "deal gone North" or "Deal gone far East"? That way it doesn't include us.
