I'm not sure they are the same. Different pumps, torque converters, etc ...
Personally, I would give RPM a call in Indiana if you going to try doing this.
By the way the 4160 and 4165 end up in the same place with modifications.
i sent them a email? just waitin to talk with them,, im swapin the tranns, rear and stall, since my tranny went. big project for me. i think i can do the install? it doesnt look to hard?

Just a messy job, while you're there you might want to check the inner torque tube to make sure your couplers are still good. They tend to dry rot over the years and fall apart.
Automatics are pretty easy to do. Make sure you line up the spline shaft inside the bell housing (engine) so that you can remove the spline lock (10MM) hex.
Drop the rear cradle and support the tranny. Drain the fluids, remove the tranny cooling lines.
Hook up a tranny jack, lower slowly disconnect the shifter cables and wiring harness.
Unbolt TT from the front bell housing and slide it out. Takes a few hours.
Don't waste your time trying to get a 4l65E to work in your car the mount location is different.
Just get a level V from RPM it'll have 4l65 guts and more in fact way more then you need at your power level.
Where your at a level IV is still overkill but it will give you room to grow.
