Pulled my 2000 A4 out of the garage today and there was a good amount of trans fluid on the ground. I havent driven it since end of october early novemeber and even then i would notice a few drops per week. I jacked it up and it looks like its leaking where the trans and diff connect. Is this a common problem or is it gonna cost me big to get this fixed? Thanks
Wouldn't that be if it were getting driven and getting up to temperature, I haven't driven it in a couple months and it's been pretty cold here in Chicago
You drove it when you garaged it. It may be the left over that's running down the top of the tranny. I would clean it well and check it in a few days. How much is it leaking? The next simplest thing would be the pan gasket.

When I moved it over in the garage today for about half an hour there was about a half dollar sized puddle and where it's been sitting I would say there's probably about 8-9 ounces. And there was fluid on the pan but also where the trans and diff connect.

The 8-9 oz seems excessive to me. If you haven't changed the tranny filter in awhile,I would do that. Clean the area really good and change the filter and pan gasket. Who ever does it have them look at the vent tube to see if they notice Field in the area before cleaning..
Sometimes you can see the fluid built up and actually track to where it drained to.
I just did mine in Oct. It took me about 4 hours, but I have a drive on lift that raises the car 25 inches.

I too would clean the area up and then keep a careful eye out for any future leaks. Would be nice if you could see where it was actually leaking from - either the vent tube or elsewhere.
When I had my '00 it leaked where the tranny and differential mated together. There is a silicone seal that can go bad causing fluid to leak out. I had mine fixed under warranty, so not really sure of the exact cost to repair if that is where it is truly leaking.

My 2000 FRC is at the dealer now for this. It is basically and oring / gasket failure. I am looking at 1500.00 to repair.
