I heard that if you install new rocker arms with a bigger ratio (1.8 I believe) you get a little more HP. I understand that a higher ratio opens the valve longer and has less seat time but do you get anything that you can feel or is it :bs
They will help a little. I would save my money on those and go with a camshaft though. It will cost you a little more, but the end results will be much better. :)
Good Luck,
Which camshaft for a 98 coupe? I have heard about alot of cams for sale but I do not want one with a high lift and possibly flatten it at idle due to traffic.
Here's my experience. I installed a 216/220 Comp cam with .525 and .532 lift respectively and bought a used set for $400 in like new condition. The car gained 10 rwhp and 13ft.lbs at the peak and was up everywhere below the curve. I'll try to find the dyno sheet to show you. I know $700 is steep for roller rockers so try to find them used. They are rebuildable and usually go for $350-450 used. Good luck!
Why do you think you are going to flatten a cam at idle?
The cam that I would suggest depends a lot on what kind of driving you will be doing and what you expect from the car. If you want some more information, feel free to give me a ring or drop me an emial. I would be happy to help pick the cam that is perfect for you and your car.
