Default What X-Pipe do I need?

Did some searching and didnt find what I was looking for. I am going to order a pair of Kooks headers and I want a 3" xpipe and 3" pipe all the way to where the connection is at the rear of the car.

My car is a 03 ZO6 completly stock for now. Im going to keep the stock mufflers for now but want to keep my options open for the future. Will the 3" xpipe bolt to the stock "catback" (mufflers) or do I need to go with a 2.5"? Thanks in advance

I believe that stainless works said that a stock 2.5 cat back will bolt up to their 3 inch system.

I AGREE! Unless you totally up-grade to a 3" complete system, you will need to reduce down to the rear muffler inlet.

Its also flanged and you will need to make or purchase an adapter flange to mate up a 3" system.

Correct me if Im wrong but isnt your 3 inch x-pipe able to bolt up to a 2.5 inch catback flange so you dont have to buy the full system all at once.

It will bolt up to the factory flange. Bolt pattern is the same. Yes it will hinder flow going to 2.5" but thats why we have a full system from header to tip. We are a one stop shop if your looking for the best system for your C5.

Thanks

I have the COMPLETE Stainless Works header and 3" X pipe and exhaust system on my 02 ZO6. SUPERB system fit, finish and performance. Its one of the only true 3" CAT back systems that fit very well. It also installs easily from the bottom of the car on jack stands!!

It also doesnt drone. It sounded outstanding on a mildly modified LS6 I installed heads and cam on the ZO6 and WOW, that system sounds wicked cool.

So your 3" xpipe will bolt to the stock catback flanges? That was my question didnt know if I made that clear or not. Dont want to change the catback at this time but may want to in the future..

I don't know if there are different ones from kooks but maryland speed is where I bought mine...I did have to ask for a full 3" with a 2.5" at the flange. Fits perfect with my ghl bullets.

Ii guess from what I have read, the x pipe will reduce to 2 1/2" before the flanges at the rear of the car.

So this will not work with my stock catback???

Heres a stock C5 mid pipe:

Unless you purchase something that bolts stock to the manifolds and stock to the rear muffler flange,,, you and the CUSTOM Muffler shop need to be close.

Heres a stainless works complete system:

LMAO! That was WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY back in 2004. The garage is at ZIP Products in VA. I purchased all kinds of their stuff during Carlisle...

Thats where I had the headers and CCW 505a's and tires installed.. ZIP gave me a "Couldnt pass up deal" on the headers, wheels/ tires and install package. I just couldnt pass up the deal.

Its a LOT dirter and banged up now!!! The car only had 27,000 miles on it then... It has 60K on it now. CT winters here are HELL!

Im sure it still looks better than mine. I got mine out of northern Va and they guy had used it as his DD since late 2001 so it was and is fairly caked with salt. I have cleaned it up a bunch since then but when we had those two snow storms all that salt came back. I have also never seen snow stick to the roads before the ground, that was scary driving back from school on ice with my summer tires Im going to have to do a very good cleaning when I get back home from basic, Ill also be installing some headers shortly after

And I know what you mean about Carlisle, you always come back wanting more stuff for your car. I only made it up there 3 or four times last year unfortunately, and I got sick on Saturday at corvettes at Carlisle so that wasnt much fun at all. I did get some Ti exhaust while I was there for an unmentionable price though.
