My new 2000 needs end links. Still has the plastic ones and they are starting to crack. I bought set of the metal ones for a 2000 so that's not an issue but I figured while I am it (famous last words) I would put in poly bushings. What size do I need. After doing some reading here I realized that there are different sized sway bars depending on what car you have. It is a Z51 suspension package if that makes a difference.
I can take care of you on the end links and bushings. I'd just like to have the VIN to make sure of the bushings and all. Feel free to send us an email or give us a call.

So ordering by the VIN for an 11 year old vehicle, with numerours previous owners, without verifying what is there is your recommendation?

Well, there is only one place to start! And if you're that concerned about it and you want to improve the handling I would step up to the C6 Z51 sway bars, with the free upgrade to poly bushings, that we sell and that takes care of a few problems at once!

The OP had a question on what size sway bar bushings he would need to replace what he believes he has. Vendor's like yourself turning request for information post into a tasteless self serving sales pitch is a major contributor to degrading the effectiveness of this FORUM.

Self serving or not, this is good advice. Also, if the OP wants to improve handling and is considering replacing the bushings anyway, this upgrade is relatively cheap and one of the best upgrades for these cars in my opinion.

Gene has been nothing but helpful to me when I have requested p/n's and ordered parts from him. As far as I am concerned Gene's reputation is as good as gold as well as his advice!

I installed a set of Prothane poly urethane bushings in my 03 Z06. All I had to do was measure the OD of the sway bars then purchase the appropriate set. Installing them was easy and produced a noticeable handling improvement.
No, I just find mis-information from some of the vendors unacceptable and so should you.
I learned a LONG time ago, if I need parts for my car, to investigate my needs MYSELF. However, many people don't have a set of calipers handy, etc. Therefore they ask other for advice.
Secondly, and somewhat more importantly, the vendors who pay a fee to advertise on this forum, keep it FREE for everyone else to participate. Want to pony up $20-30 a year to keep this forum going??

It seems like that idea could somehow have been conveyed in a less insulting way.
Gene has helped me and countless others on this Forum many times, and a comment like that was totally uncalled for.
The effectiveness of the Forum being degraded?
Yes,it is,by posts like the one above..

Thank you Mr. GM parts house sycophant for that resounding recommendation and pointless diatribe about part numbers. If you want to buy overpriced parts from that organization go for it!
How about reading my original recommendation to the OP and staying on point. Measure GD sway bar before you buy new bushings!

I was willing to pay, I was a supporting member until the vendors started to invade information post in the TECH and Z06 sections of the FORUM.
BTW having a set of calipers to measure the sway bar's diameter is not mandatory, rulers work just dandy and most folks manage to master that skill in elementary school.
didnt mean to start anything, I figured that since the car was completely stock that the sway bar diameter would be a constant. since i actually dont have calipers I was hoping that someone else had already measured.

It's not your fault, at all!
Somebody seems to have a problem with a certain vendor(s).....

My buddies and I just installed metal end links on my stock 2000. I love'em no more squeaking on speed bumps, etc. and she handles way better! A few weeks later added C6Z06 shocks from Gene. One happy Z51 Coupe owner here!

The point is simple. Unless you know for certain, that the sway bars are stock, measure them first. You don't need an expensive caliper. You could pick up a cheap plastic one at an auto parts store. Much better to measure first, than to order the wrong size, and find out after you have the car off the ground. Your choice.....
