Default aftermarket radiator

has anyone had any experience fitting an after market radiator in a c5? Did you take pics of your fab/install???

Call me crazy, but I'm not a fan of dropping 550 bucks for an upgraded radiator, when I see nice radiators that are the right dimensions, but not direct fit for 275 or so

Not sure what you mean by aftermarket, but I have the DeWitts that required a minor mod to the fan shroud but otherwise dropped in. Most of the modification was required due to the optional oil cooler I had built into the radiator.

I did the same swap as Vettenuts, using the Dewitts with the left side oil cooler built in. Easy swap, fits perfectly once you trim the fan shroud, and well worth what it costs.

Do your self a favor and get a DeWitts or Ron Davis unit. The install is easy, they are specifically designed for our cars and everything fits correctly. You can get an aftermarket unit that is "CLOSE" in size, but you will end up fabricating / modifying brackets, shrouds, hose routing, etc. In my opinion, it is not worth saving + or - $250 and having to do all that work to make it fit correctly. My time is worth more than that.

The Ron Davis units are the best radiators we have used. They have excellent quality and fitment.

My records show you have never purchased one of ours so perhaps you should try one and compare.

That was actually pretty good... DeWitts has a lot of satisfied customers as well and make a fine product too. You won't go wrong with either.

I just got one from Rockauto and it was perfect. Seems to be working just fine too.

I have a blown 8 rib forged 402 and ever since I put the supercharger on it I couldn't run the a/c as the engine would overheat (in hot weather). Put in a DeWitt's with no transmission cooler (I put the largest B&M cooler I could fit for the transmission). Heat problem solved.

I believe the DeWitt has 50% more cooling capacity than stock. One can see by the pic it is comparing apples to oranges.

Anyone with a stroker in an F or Y body needs more cooling,,this is the way to go! Just look at the pics. It's a no brainer.
Highly recommended.

I'm building a 402 stroker for my D1, and will be getting a Dewitts radiator to replace my stocker.
