Paint code question
Bronze paint for Magnesium Sport Custom Wheels - Option code N73 - Paint code WA-EQ163D or GM paint code WAQ-163D or on touchup bottle from GM Goodwrench it is simply WA 163D.
waiting for the clearcoat to dry and the fumes to clear so I can get my C5 and 4x4 back in the garage.
painting takes soo long (prep, prep, prep) after priming them last night I started on them this afternoon at 4. Sanded, sanded, sanded and ran out of paper. went to Home Depot (because I only needed 600...that's the highest they go @ HD) Got back home, changed clothes sanded some more...
Went to pick up paint...got home (had to stop to pick up food) had a beer with neighbors (only 1) prep'd wheels w/tech clean, went inside, ate food.
mixed paint, step up lights, adjusted gun and put down 1st base coat. 20 minutes dry, mixed more paint put down 2nd base coat. back inside had another beer.
back to garage for lethal coats of clear. mixed paint (damn that was 2 oz in that shot glass of hardner not 1...got to add (waste) another 8 oz's of clear & 4 of reducer).
tack coat wait 5 min, a real tack coat wait 10 minutes, then lay down the rest of the clear.
now it's 4 O'clock in the freak'n morning & i'm coughing my lungs out (even replaced the filters in the resperator, that clear coat is a killa)
Painting sucks for an amature like me, but again, damn they look good, maybe I'm learning something...err probably just got lucky.
did I mention the wheels look dame good! :yesnod:
