Engine removal question
I'm going to be dropping the front subframe and pulling the engine out the top. Do I need to remove the belly pan (I have a heavy-duty one)? Can I let the torque tube rest against it when the engine is out?

Anybody? It doesn't look like there would be any issue doing it this way, but the instructions I'm finding say to remove the belly pan and support the torque tube. It's not really clear why that would be necessary.

I just pulled my engine tonight. I let the torque tube fall on the tunnel pan. I should have put a rag down, but I also have insulation on the pan. I've lifted up with one hand before when I pulled the whole rear assemby out. The nose of the torque tube only weighs like 20lbs.

I have pulled the engine out of the top, didn't have to drop the front subframe at all. Did have to remove the rear cradle (tranny/diff/torque tube) and pull the torque tube/shaft out of the clutch assembly so the engine could go up.
