Default Exhaust

Has anyone installed SLP "Loud Mouth" or Mid America "Power Curve" exhaust pipes? I have Bassani's. I like them, but want more. Both of these have NO mufflers.

Equal, give or take a fraction. The mufflers are not a big restriction in the C5. Go with an exhaust system because you like the sound of it, not because they claim more HP.
Good luck,

If I remember correctly the Power Curve system is a chambered exhaaust which will act like a muffler (but not much) and the Loud Mouths have removable inserts to control the sound. I agree with Chris buy because of the sound. It is really hard to describe how an exhaust sounds and what sounds good to you may not sound good to others. I would see if you can find someone local with one of the exhaust systems you are looking at and see if they will take you for a ride before dropping several hundred

Are you saying that I will not pick up any horsepower by going with a lower restriction cat back system ?
I need some clarification on that, and if that is the case where is the restriction in the intake/ exhaust system ?

That is exactly what I am saying. You can gain HP by going with an aftermarket header system like the FLP system. The stock cats are not even bad at all. You will pick up good torque by removing them though.
The main restrictions in the intake are Camshaft. With that corrected, look towards you heads. Then focus on your intake manifold followed up by your throttle body and MAF. This is all assuming you have an air intake already though.
Let me know if you need some help finding the next step for your car. We can take care of anything you need. :)

I have the "loud mouth" on my '99. My '98 had Corsa's and like you, I wanted more. The Loud mouth is not for everyone
you will be noticed; at first I installed them w/o the inserts and my wife kept buggin' me about it. So in went the inserts and
now she can live with it...two crazy things happened: 1) after installing the cam, it's little quieter at idle but deeper at WOT.
2) My whole neighborhood loves the sound so they tell me. If you want it Deep at cruise and loud at wot, buy it...I love it!!! As for HP and TQ
I gained 7hp and 8ft. tq....just buy it used for $350 to 400 shipped and be happy. Just my .02 cents!!! :mad :mad

Hey Chris, why are numerous owners/suppliers claiming a 7hp or more increase with the Borla Stingers, with a stock or mild mod engine? Bad dyno's?
