Default Engine casting/Vin Number

Is there any way to match your c5 engine to your Vin number? I have seen a diagram of where this number is supposed to be located but it would appear that other engine components would have to be removed in order to see this number.

Thanks!

Chris

Original message incorrect. Not the VIN no.

I have this diagram also sitting in front of me actually! I believe I located these two points however it would appear that other engine components block these areas from view. I'm looking for a place under the hood that can be accessible to view.

Anyone?

98pacevette, mine is only visible from the bottom. Not too bad when I have it on the lift. HTH
