Burnt F55 Simulators

I am getting ready to revert to the F55s. Before I purchased the car (2003, 50th) the previous owner change the shocks to Bilsteins and installed shock simulators. I noticed that the front simulators (not sure of the rear still need to check) have melted. The wires and the connectors are perfectly fine and no signs of damage. Is this something that I should be concerned with, should I check something else for damage? I read somewhere on the forum that 2003s had issues using simulators, and they didn’t work on this year. Could this be why? Has anyone experienced this? I was going to post a picture of it, but I can't figure out how to.
