hey guys my fuel pump is bad and im going to replace it...
1. What all should I do or replace when i change out the fuel pump?
2. I would like to get a better fuel pump as well... what kind should i get? WALBRO 255lph?
3. Is there 1 fuel pump or 2?
I recommend you consult the service manual before you go screwing with the fuel system. There is an electrically driven pump in the driver's side tank and a jet pump in the passenger's side tank.
They are sized to work in conjuction with return flow from the regulator and maintain the same level in both tanks as the fuel level is drawn down. I've seen more than one post from individuals who have "upgraded" their fuel system and now only the driver's side tank level goes down.

Highlited in red is wrong, Sorry Ipuig.
I know I am getting a walbro in my car but there has been quite a few people with walbros that fail prematurely I havent seen any posts here but alot of people went with a denso 255 over walbro due to the issues
What problems are you having? What is your fuel pressure at the rail?
im not sure what the fuel pressure is. ill try to get a hold of a fuel pressure gauge and check.
The problems i am having is after the car is driven and at full operating temps then sits for at least 15-30 mins, the car will have a poor start...the car will start but it has a very low rpm and sounds like it wants to die then after a couple seconds it is fine...the idle seems a little low to me as well..500rpms and car just sounds a little weak...then lastly while driving the car, it will surge a little when on decel or slight accel. anything else the car runs good.
then randomly last week i drove about 15 miles then turned the car off and it sat for about 30mins to 1 hour and it would not start back up...it would turn over but just not fire up. my father sprayed starting fluid into intake and it fired right up.
Only code is BCM-2723 H C
i need to either clean my contacts in ignition or just replace it

What is wrong with it? Although the description of how the system works in not verbatum out of the service manual but it is technically correct. Fuel flow from the electric pump is used to power the jet (siphon) pump continuosly moving fuel from the passenger side tank to the driver side tank.
I have had 3 pumps go out on me within the last 5 yrs , the 1st was the stock pump,I then added the GRJ420 pump with thebucket, this lasted 2yrs,then it was replaced again with the same pump, after 2 more yrs of use this pump went as well,I the had my car in a performance shop & it went out after not driving the car for a year, this was replaced with the GSS307,this is a ford app but I know it works because I had it in the car with 58lbs @ the rail, this too went out from running it out of gas & now in the dilema of changing it out again,so ya I would these pumps do fail frequently, last 1 was my fault, where did u find the kit for 110.00?

Some of the pressurized fuel is directed
through a feed pipe, to a siphon jet pump in
the right tank. The jet pump relies on the
venturi effect to use pressurized fuel to
draw additional fuel from the tank. The
combined fuel then flows from the right
tank to the left tank, through a return
pipe . The jet pump is able to move enough fuel to
ensure that all of the fuel in the right tank
is consumed before the level in the left
tank begins to drop.

i found the kit here... they are a CF vendor here as well
Does anyone have a link to a detailed procedure (with pics I hope) of dropping the exhaust, rear and gas tank to replace the pump on the drivers side?
I searched most of last night and it looks like it is a butt ugly job.
(03 late model Z06)
I am draining gas out of it today.
You only need to drain as much gas as possible. You DON'T need to drop exhaust, or the tank itself. I'm editing myself, because my '02 has a different system. Sorry.

Huh? If he's got a late '03, he WILL have to drop his tank. FFS fuel system access is from the top of the tank.
