My front end on my '01 Z started to make a creaking and popping noise. Upon inspection, I noticed my tie rod ends and tie rods were worn. I just replaced both. The popping noise has stopped, but it still creaks. I am hoping it is just the sway bar bushings. Does anyone have an idea of what it may be? Thanks.
You're probably in the right area with the sway bar bushings...some guys wrap teflon tape around the sway bar where the actual bushing rides on the sway bar. Try that first and see if it fixes the noise.
Loosen and remove the two sway bar bushings that hold the sway bar to the bottom of the car. No need to loosen or do anything with the end links.
Remove the bushings, clean and apply grease to the inside and outside of the bushing. Reinstall.
I have used grease on the bushings in the past, but this last time I used the Teflon tape approach after reading of similar issues on some of the Honda and foreign car boards. My front end is now dead quiet and there is no mess. Been in there now for a few years without touching them again.
