Any felt difference after CAI mod
419.4 rwhp/402.1 lb-ft after Honker installed.
That's a 19.5 hp increase at the wheels by just installing the Honker. Some people, but not all, will feel a 15-20 rwhp difference.
(There's also an additional 12.8 hp increase reported after tuning.)
One thing that should be mentioned here is that the car in the article had some other performance parts installed (400 rwhp). Consequently, the Honker installation had more of an effect on this car than it would on a car with a completely stock engine. On LS1's and LS6's with stock engines, we've recorded increases of 18 to 20 bhp (SAE) on our engine dyno. That would equate to 15-16 hp at the wheels.
At the dragstrip, in acceleration testing, however, we've recorded 2 to 3 tenths quicker ET's, which would indicate a greater than 20 hp increase - apparently due to a positive pressure effect that we've measured occurring at the air filter inlet.
So whether one's seat-of-the-pants can feel it or not, the Honker-equipped car would still be ahead of the non-Honker-equipped car at the end of the quarter-mile.
Just thought I would note, these numbers are seperated by 4-5 years and different dyno's were used, the time of year was about the same though. No tune was done so keep all that in mind to be fair.
Oh ya, keep an eye out in the for sale section because I have no use for it now.
