Default Is it my battery maintainer.?

HI, I just put a new battery in my corvette about a month ago or so.
The old one just would not hold a charge no more..It was like 6 years old.. So it was time for a new one.

So befor i put it in the car i checked the charge and it was fully charged. Then i hooked it up to my new battery Maintainer witch is a new 1.5A Schumacher from wall mart.

Ok its been on it for like 3 days now and i went out just to see how its doing because the light is green witch shows it fully charged. And when i unpluged the charger to check the volts my new battery was holding..Well is it wrong to just show me 12.4 volts, The car does start up every time and not slow, And the charge to the battery is showing 14.3 volts, at the battery and the gauge in the car.

So i need to know is 12.4 volts after it being on the charger for like 3 days ok..or should it show more..and if so why dont it.? Battery and Maintainer are new.. Thanks for any help i may hear..

dbiddle.

And by the way, i am useing a 10 foot extension cord so i can reach the wall socket, And its just one from the house..I think its 16 gauge like a lamp cord. And the Manual say it should be at 12V-13.3V and thats Maintain Voltage.

It should read 12.7v at full charge,12.4 is only about 80%
(you should wait 8 hours or so after removing the charger to check the batt voltage, that will give you a more accurate reading)

Since the charger seems to be cutting off @ 12.4v,I'd say the charger is the culprit.
Do you have another vehicle you could try it on to see if it does the same thing?

No other car i can try it on at this time,

But i went out and took it off the EXT. cord to see now how it will do, And if still dont charge to at least 12.7 i called them up today and they said it could just be a bad charger.

So i will just wait tell the light turns green, witch shows me a fully charged battery..And if not..its going back.. I mean what more could it be.???? Any help at this point would be nice.. Thanks dbiddle.

Mine will show about 12.4ish until the hood lamp goes out. Then it bumps to 12.6 or higher.

Just a thought.

Other than just needing to know numbers, if it is starting well each and every time, I would not worry about it.
