OK, Took it off the EXT. cord and it took about 2 hrs, for the charger to show me a green light.
And took it off the charger and then checked it again, Now with not useing the EXT. cord. it now shows me on my gauge 12.73 Volts.
I will keep checking it now and then..but i sure hope its fixed now that i have it just going to the wall, with out any EXT. cord.
but man if i just open the car door for a sec, or open the hood and any of the little lights go on..even for a min. it seems to take this new charger back to the charge mode for about 1/2 hr to get it to show green full charge again.Man thats slow.
So what are your thoughts on this matter?..does it sound about right? Thanks, dbiddle.
How are you checking the voltage? Reading the dash gages with the key in the on position but engine OFF? Or using a digital voltmeter directly across the battery posts with NO KEY in the ignition?
Im useing a digital volt meter directly across the battery post with NO key in the ignittion..am i doing it right.? with the maintainer not hooked up.
I have an Optima yellow top and I use a CTEK charger with it. I just wanted to let you know that I see the same thing - if I open the door for a few seconds and all the interior lights go on, the CTEK red light goes on and it takes a good while for it to go back to the red. It's been doing this forever and I never have a problem starting the car.
