Default Kooks header install

I have a 98 c5 and just bought Kooks long tube headers with catted x pipe. Looking for instal tips. Do I need to buy anything extra with this setup (O2 sensor) I also bought a Magnaflow axle back exhaust. Asking because I have read that early model C5s need something extra during the install and can't remember what it was.

Look in the DIY section at the top. I did a complete write up on installing Headers on a C5. Mine was a 97 with AR Long Tubes and Magna Flow Exhaust. Nothing special needed. PM me if you have questions.

Just installed my Kooks last weekend,I bought 1 7/8" so I had to undo motor mounts and lift the engine 1 side at a time, total pain in the *** getting them in,but now that their done I'm happy, not sure if you have to do the same with 1 3/4" though.

I got the 1 3/4 and have heard of having to jack up the motor. Didn't know that you have to break the mounts though. Is this just with the Kooks? Jacking up the motor? Which side was that for or both? Thanks.

Had to do both sides, wasn't that hard, just loosened up the driver side 1st and undid the passenger side all the way, passenger side goes in 1st,after that I put the nut back on and took the drivers side all the way off and jacked that side up,driver side was the hardest,of course u have to take the valve cover off, remove alt,I removed my air system pump awile ago so that wasn't a problem.as far as the mounts its easy,I believe its a 18mm nut that you undo fom underneth, its not that bad to do really, just need someone to help up top when your under the car.

Kooks 1 7/8" is a major PIA. Do yourself a favor and take off the intake manifold and jack the engine up as far as you can. Once the engine is up, rotate the motor with a big stick. I used an axe handle. The passenger side was the most difficult for me. The AC lines are in the way. Once you get one side in don't attach to the heads. Just let it hang until you get the other side in.

I had to R&R mine when the drivers side air tube broke off.

Once they are installed you wonder why it was so difficult. They fit the car perfect. Plenty of room around the spark plug boots.
