Does ARP make a main bearing bolt or stud kit for a 6.0 iron block that does not require any special maching or honing or windage tray problems...I was told by a builder he uses the stock 6.0 gm bolts on the mains since they are 6 bolt..and ARP would need machine work done.
Not a builder, but it is my understanding that the higher torque specs of the ARP studs can possibly cause distortion in the main caps with the additional clamping force. I just did my 427 with ARP studs and went this route for insurance. Lots of writeups on using ARP studs on LS1 Tech. Also, take a look at Katech and Mast's site, pretty much all their high end engines use the ARP studs and do the align honing to ensure trueness after torquing the ARP studs. IMHO, wouldn't do the studs w/o doing a align hone. Good insurance in my mind so you can you can add power adders with confidence later down the road.

thanks cantrellmitl.....i will do a search on the LS1 Tech....and read more ....i wonder if the ZR1 has stock GM bolts...i would think so...
again thanks GREG O.
Depends on what you are doing with the car. Stock main bolts will hold a lot of power. I've got ARP main studs and didn't need to line hone the block, but it's not always common. If I were to do it all over again I'd just use the stock bolts as they have held way more power than my car will ever put down.
According to my engine builder stock bolts are good for 1000 hp as my friend is prooving with his turbo 388. I agree studs have there place in race engines but with the LS platform having 6 bolt mains I think it's usually a un-needed upgrade for most people.
