My AC blows out of the right places but seems to leak some cold air out the defroster vents. I've replaced the vacum lines but the check valve that is supposed to be under the battery is gone. Do I need a check valve or are the seals on the doors in my AC box toast?
The issue that your experiencing is very common and not unusual. I do not know if its a design feature or a design issue but,, my 98 and my 02 ZO6 both did the exact thing. Unless you have a SIGNIFICANT volume of air coming out when the defrost is not selected, I would not try to eliminate the issue.
I learned to just turn the temp up a little and it prevents the condensation issue.
My 2002 does the same thing, I asked the same question on here and was advised about the vacuum lines also. I checked all the lines and found nothing wrong. So I took a vacuum pump and the system holds vacuum, so I'm guessing no leaks.. I took a piece of paper put it over the defroster duct pressing down to make a imprint of the duct, cut it out to make a pattern. Then my wife cut a piece of vinyl sewed the edges and cut holes for the sensors. I just lay this on the duct and it blocks that pesky air flow to the windshield and no more fogging..
