Default Tire size help please

I ordered new rims for my 1998 C5 coupe. Thinking I was ordering the stock sizes, I ordered 9.5/17(front), 9.5/18 (rear). I also 0rdered a new set of tires. The problem is the front tires look like they are not wide enough and the rim sticks out past the tire. Looks really goofy! The rear wheels look great. What size tires should I have ordered for these rims?
I ordered:
245/45/17 front
275/40/18 rear

You have the stock tire sizes, front and rear, for the C5. I suspect that you ordered the wrong size front wheel- too wide, but I can't recall the factory widths front and rear- Do a search.

If you must keep your new wheels, you could purchase new front tires, ie 275 45 17. You will have slightly different handling, with the same width front and rear, depending on your driving style and plans for the vette. If it is a street car, you probably will not notice much difference from stock IMO, but you will have a bigger footprint up front.

Yep, you screwed the pooch on the front rims. Stock size is 8.5".

a 265-40-17 will fit it better. It is .3 taller so you will be .7 larger in the rear still depending on brand and model of coarse.
