Default Uh oh...I think my slave cylinder is leaking :(

Well I jacked up my car to change the oil today and I see some fluid under the car. No worries I figured, it must be just water. Then I looked at the back of the motor and I realize it's covered in some kind of fluid.

I did the "taste test" and it definitely wasn't water. Only thing I can think of from back there is brake fluid, meaning my slave cylinder took a dump is what I'm guessing.

Perfect timing too, I was going to drive my car down to Texas tomorrow. Now I don't think it will make it. I'm kind of screwed because I am moving to Florida in 5 days.

Here are some pics, tell me what you guys think:

Clutch and slave are only 2 years old at the max, I did the Textralia clutch in 2009 I just cant remember when...

I'm gonna go take a test drive and see how bad it's leaking, I don't think it's too bad.

Did you check the master for fluid loss?

Yeah when I first noticed I went and looked at the master and it was half empty

Just went and drove it and came back and parked and it's definitely leaking drops. I'm not sure how bad it is yet I'll go back and check under there in a few hours and recheck the master too

Considering the master was half empty, and it's dripping on the floor.....I thing that question has been answered.

So now the question is if it's dripping fast enough to keep me from getting to Texas without it losing all its fluid.

Obviously I can stop and refill it every hour if I need to.

I wouldn't have any issue with that trip as much of it is highway miles without the need for clutch usage. Fill the res at each fuel stop and you should be good

In high school (back in the 60's) my buddies clutch went out in his 66 GTO and that's how we got around for a week or so!

does it feel like brake fluid? I mean oil and brake fluid have a very different feel if you rub them between your fingers.

Mine decided to randomly take a dump back this fall and did the same thing. Found a big puddle under teh car and when I tried to move the car the pedal would just stick to the floor.

the other thing to consider if driving it with the slave leaking is getting fluid all over your clutch -- not a good thing.

K guys starting to pull everying out right now. What all should I replace while I'm in there?

Here's what I'm thinking:
Slave cylinder
Pilot bearing
Throw out bearing

Anything else while I got everything off?
