Was wondering what kind of power improvement and 1/4 mile times or reduction in time I might see. I have a 2002 A4 2.73 gears, also have a vortex on the car now.
On the dyno, I lost 1hp and 2 lbs of tq going from 2.73 to 3.42's. Never got to run the quarter with the 2.73's! But that was a long time ago, now great thing to come, hopefully. The powerloader was first installed with the 2.73's and updated with the 3.43's, I dynoed at 308rwhp!
I think the biggest gain you get from the powerloader is losing the torque management on the tranny and improved shifting. Your result on a 2.73 may not be as good but, I believe the improvement would be similar. See sig.
I have the same setup as you do. There is a track at the Corvette Museum and I ran 13.6's with the Vortex system complete. After I finally got the "Powerloader" and a larger throttle body from Breathless Performance...my best times were 13.2's. So, that's the numbers. Although there are an assortment of factors that affect the numbers. Yesterday my best times were 13.4's...but I was not hitting the tree good. I would say it is a great improvement...I noticed the car felt different, significantly different, right away...
The Powerloader will slightly adjust your Air/Fuel ratios for your Cold Air intake which could make a bit more power, as well as it backs off the torque management that GM programmed into your PCM to stop wheelspin between shifts, and it will do some amazing things with your shift points and shift firmness. I believe the transmission management part of the Powerloader is most impressive. Most A4 guys after being Powerloaded feel like they are driving a totally different car because of how the transmission is controlled by the Powerloaded PCM.
Horspower wise you are probably looking at gains of anywhere from 5 to 10rwhp. It is the changes made to the transmission management that offer the bigest performance gains.
If you are interested in any more details about the Powerloader, including pricing or ordering one, drop me an email.
Thanks for the responses on this. So you guys think maybe 13.2's with the PL II. I would like flat 13.0's if possible. I will probably get the gears and TC, also isnt 13.6's about what the car will run completely stock with the 2.73 gears. If I am wrong can some one please tell me. I would like to know were I can get the GM 1/4 mile times on the different corvettes with different gears for 2002. :)
