Default c6 z06 shock install problem

I am in the process of changing my shocks to the c6 z06 shocks. The front passenger side went in no issue. The drivers side is where I am having my problem

The front drivers side c6 z06 shock is fouling/chaffing the upper control arm. It's the upper plastic shroud on the shock that is touching the upper control arm. No matter what I do, it seems that I can't get it to not touch the arm.

Search did not turn up anything

TIA

good call lucky.. pic for refference... lower right side of the shock in pic

Perhaps you can post a pic......shocks are about as straight forward as it gets.

And what happens when you compress the spring i.e. simulate a normal suspension position, as if the car was on all four wheels?

Have the top of the shock push back into the cyl & tied off w/a couple of zip ties?.
Have the lower arm pushed up a bit?
Get it in postion & bolt up.

as it compresses/goes up, the cotrol arm moves up and off the shock... but the old ones did not do this.. that what is confusing

I don't have c6 shocks, but I'm quite certain, that your old shocks are a smaller diameter, and so is the shroud.

If your all buttoned up, looks if you were to put the weight on the lower arm as when the car is on the ground, there will be clearance.

However, while there is much less space, I did not have contact when I installed mine. I did have a VERY difficult time getting the front shocks in the proper position to secure the bottom bolts. I secured the top first and kept playing with the bottom until I had clearance.

I think you are correct, but I can't be the only person with this problem if it is an issue. I am worried I may have a bad upper control arm bushin or something

You are correct. But, does that mean this is ok?

I am planning on taking the shock back out and trying again.. just to see if that helps

Don't worry about it. One of mine touches like that too. It's no big deal since it only touches when the suspension is hanging.

It's not a tumor. If you can't understand, that the suspension hanging freely, is different than when the car is on all four tires.....I don't know what to tell you.

I get that the only time the suspension is like this is when on jacks or pulling a duke's of hazard jump.

What I was saying was, If this happens on occasion, I expected to see threads where people may have asked or reported it. And I know a decent bit about cars, but what I know more than anything is if I change a part and the new part creates a situation that was different than before, I just don't ignore it. And while I may worry to much about it, when I am doing an HPDE and I am going ~130 mph, I want to know that my ride is right.

That's why I was asking. For example, if with the old shock installed, a bushing was worn out but held in place and everything looked fine. Now after removing the shock the bushing is out of whack and causing the new shock to not be installed correctly. Thus I have a bad bushing.

But, it seems I was over thinking and overreacting.. nothing new there!!

But thanks for the replies and letting me know I am not the only one with this as an issue.

When I did mine one of the stock shocks left the bushing behind and up on the top of the bushing mount and I did not notice it until I installed it and lowered the a arm down. Check you old shocks to make sure both bushings came out with the old shocks.
