The last few times I've driven my 1999 c5 vert, I have had trouble getting it to start after shutting it off. Usually occurs while running errands after the third stop. When I try and start it the starter will not turn the engine over. Instead I get a click. If I wait for 45 minutes and try again she turns over like nothing happened. Checked the battery cables, they're tight. No codes in the DIC. Any ideas?

When you say "no codes in the DIC", does that mean you actually check for codes..........because nothing will just pop up on it's own.
Yes Lucky, I checked for codes holding down the options button while pressing fuel 4 times.

Just asking, some think the codes will just pop up. Check the connections at the starter solenoid. How repeatable is the problem? If you drive around, and come home, will it not start? If so, best thing to do, is drive it , and put it on ramps right away. Then measure the voltage at the solenoid, purple wire, in a no start condition. If you have 12 volts, the solenoid is probably on it's way out.
Check the starter soleniod, tap it with a long rod or something, and it will start right up.......it the solenoid going out! I wish you could just replace the solenoid, but I have not found one as a separate item, just an entire starter!....I am thinking of buying an MSD starter before I start out the new year! Good Luck!
Ok, will do. I've been thinking it was the solenoid, but the starter is only a year and a half old. I will try to get it up in the air to check connections / voltage at the starter next time it happens. Do you guys use heat shields on your starters? Even without headers?

Many, many moons ago, I had a Pontiac GranPrix with the 455 engine and it too would not turn over or super slowly when the engine was heated up. The starter bearings were shot therefore it was dragging the armature on the case. Either way, it sounds like your problem is either the solenoid or starter...or connections to it.
