Quick question. I got the new cam in and now trying to install the cam gear and new LS2 chain. I got the dots lined up dot to dot and took a picture to make sure. Here are some pics of what I am looking at:
The 2nd pic looks to be dead on while the 1st pic looks to to be off a little. Same pic but different angles. Does this look right or should I keep trying to line of the dots where they look straight from all angles? Any ideas?
Yep. Looks good. If you are off one tooth, you can diff tell. Like mawneec5 said, you want to rotate the engine to make sure.. We want a vid after your done..
Any tips on installing the oil pump o-ring? I lubed it up pretty good and installed it on the pickup tube. How do you know if its pinched? It's not sticking out on the sides so i should be good to go right?
Yep thats all you can do. Just when you put the tube in, just take your time and try to keep it in the center of the hole the best you can. You will be fine...
as far as the pump, slide it on the crank and tighten the pickup tube FIRST, then tighten your pump bolts. i was so worried about mine but it was a no brainer.
Thanks for the help so far guys! Starting to get closer. Tonite I got the new cam, oil pump, o-ring, and LS2 timing chain installed. Started to button her back up. Hopefully, tomorrow I can finish installing the new dual valve springs and the small details like water pump, radiator, etc. Here's a few pics from tonight:
are you doing valve springs? honestly that was the absolute worst part about the job for me. probably because i did not have that nice specialty dual spring LS1 tool. therefore it took me over 5 hours to change them. hopefully you have a better plan than me! haha

Yea. Its all in what tool you have. When i did mine it took 1.5 hours. I used a dual valve spring remover and this was easier then anything else that ive done. Your getting close......
Ok guys I got it finished up tonight. However, I found out the vender I bought the new belt for the UD pulley isn't the right belt. I really want to crank it over to check and make sure I have good oil pressure before I call it a night. Would this cause any damage to run without the belt for a few mins?
First one I ordered from Texas speed but it's too small. I guess I will be making a trip to Orielly's in the morning to find a belt. Good news is it fired right up and instant OIL PRESSURE. What a relief. Can't wait to finish up some small details like the new belts and putting the hood back on.
Man, its a huge relief that I didn't have many issues with this install. There were a few times where I thought I may have got myself in over my head. In the end it worked out awesome. Thanks to everyone to gave me advise throughout the build process.
Here's a few pics of the final stages:
Took some time dident it.LOL. I remember. I thought a few times i got over my head also when i did mine, but i just went forward with it. that is a big relief when it fires up.. Good jod and hope you can get a vid of it soon for all of us.
