The windows, mirror, and door locks don't function on my '99 coupe. Passenger side is ok.
Any tips on what to look for? Is it a fuse, or something in the module that needs attention. I know it's fairly easy to pry off the cover to get to the guts of it.
I tried doing a search on the Tech forum, but came up blank. Can't believe I'm the first with this.
Any advice is much appreciated.
Have you tried opening the door and jiggling the black rubber "accordion" thingy carrying the wires into the door? Common problem is a wire in there that has insufficient insulation and can ground, causing problems such as yours. If jiggling restores any/all functions, then it is that problem wire in the bundle and you must find and insulate it. Jiggling does not always work, however, so you should pull back the accordion and look for any naked wires or suspicious areas. I assume you checked fuses.
Sometimes relevant posts are hard to find, but there have been quite a few on this issue. Bill Curlee had one with pictures, keep searching using various titles for your search.
You should pull your codes first and post them. Next, it is possible to swap the door control modules to test if that is the issue or not. Make sure you swap them back. Yes, the door panel is easy to get off.
I did the jiggling thing and that didn't work. I don't see how you could identify a bad wire because they're bundled in a harness.
I swapped the door control modules, no luck.
Next are the fuses--probably should have done this first. On the underside of the fuse box cover is an index with abbreviations showing what each is for. But I can't tell which one might control the driver's door PB's. Everything else works, so if it's a bad fuse, it would seem that it would be a fuse that controls that one item. Anyone know which one it is?
Don't know if this matters, but I know I have a short somewhere. Rather than spend hours and $$ trying to chase it down, I use a battery tender that keeps it fully charged. Been doing that for 6 mos +, so I wouldn't think they're related.
Isn't there a fuse box under the passenger footwell? Could this be the culprit?
Yes, there is a major fuse box under the passenger footwell. Easy to get too and yes, you need to check the fuses there. I'm surprised you went to all the trouble to swap the door control modules before checking the fuses, but to each their own. Make sure you put the control modules back where they belong.

They're labeled, so even a dunce like me can't screw it up. I hope the abbreviations on the footwell fuse box are understandable.
Thanks
I would check in the passenger side footwell for two thin rectangle shaped, plastic connectors. I believe theya are white or beige, and the top clips on them are grey. They each have the ends of approximately 10 small wires going into them. I would pull off the top grey clip, and make sure that metal connector is well seated in all of the slots. When I was having trouble with my windows and locks, this fixed it.
I asked him to pull his codes which would have shown the comm problem if those star connectors were off or partially off. He never said he pulled them though.
