This past week my Dual Zone Outside Temp was reading crazy low. My A/C would not come on since the reading was below 34F. I had code B0333 "Outside Air Temp Sensor Open". I got a new sensor, and when I unhooked the old sensor connector I found it rusty- and one of the male pins had rusted off into the female. I did my best to drill out the old pin using a small drill bit. I reconnected the coupler. I cleared the code, but it keeps returning. I assume my drill-out of the old pin failed. I have not gone for a test drive due to bad weather. What can I do now? Will I have to get the wiring harness replaced?
Common problem on the C5 due to water intrussion :yesnod: A good GM parts counterman can look up the connector, and it comes with the 2 wires attatched...You just need to splice it in...
Thanks. I got the connector at my local Chevy dealer. I note that both the wires on the replacement connector are white. Is there no polarity issue on the sensor?
No polarity, the sensor simply measures resistance...The pink connectors supplied are "heat shrink" connectors. After you crimp them, make sure you heat and shrink em for a water tight seal ;)
Also, after making the repair, you may have to drive about 10 miles before you get the correct temp reading on the display. The sensor measures ambiant air,so you have to be moving for it to recalibrate :yesnod:
