Default 430HP + Slicks = OOPS!

Hey CF,

Last night I took my FRC to the track and well I broke something.

Put it in gear and it will still freely roll, Jacked the rear up and spun the driver side rear tire and the passenger rear doesnt move. But I turn the car on and put it in gear and let the clutch out passenger rear will move but driver side will not. So Im thinking I have a broken drive side axle where it connects to the differential or intermediate shafts?

My question is where is a good place to buy axles and the intermediate shafts?
(Place to buy all of my rear end parts, I hear stock C5 axles and differentials can hold some power.)

While I have the car up I want it done correctly because I will be racing the car and dont want to go through this every pass.

Roughly making 430hp and running slicks.

Thanks for your input and advice..

Kyle

You probably lost an output shaft. It is a common problem with sticky tires and stick shift cars. It is a standard upgrade for people who are going to drag race C5's regularly. I had mine done when I had all of the power added. I am trying to remember which side normally fails, but there is a longer one and a shorter one. The longer one normally fails (left side).

If you haven't done the clutch, you may want a new one too.

Yea I was thinking driver side output shaft. I am running a Mcleod RST twin disk clutch. I will know this weekend as Im removing the differential.

In case you missed it in the write ups,,, DO NOT mess with the PINION SUPPORT unless you have the specialized tool (KENT MOORE) to do the specialized set ups required.

I did the C6 output shafts, C6 clutch packs, belleview springs and the C6 cross shaft. All that went really well. The new seals make everything air tight!!

Another item to consider while you are working on the car is a line lock. They make good, consistent burn outs a lot easier.

They did a 3.73 setup with C6 Z06 guts for mine that will be installed for this season.
