Default Changed 60 to 80 injector.

Changed my friends injectors from 60 to 80 same brand(siemems). His car run fine before now with new injectors when he gets on it and it starts hitting 4k to 5k seems like the injectors turn off is that possible. He has A&A 1000hp fuel system. Car ran fine with 60 in it,But not with the 80's only at wot is when they seem to shut off. Give it a few secs then the car will run normal again,at regular driving, but not at wot. Any thoughts.

I'm confused. If the engine ran fine with 60 # injectors, and they were not approaching max duty cycle, why were they changed?

He changed his boost level by changing his pulley set up. He was around 7 now he'll be around 16 to 18 with close to 750 to 800.

Does he think he can just change the parts with no tune, and everything is going to just increase in a linear fashion??

I guess he had someone awhile back change his 37 to 60 and he said it ran good accept for some idle issues, but he was going to get it tuned and the tuner said with his new pulley set up it was possible that the 60's were not enough they said they would put 80's in before the tune and charge him 800 ish . I told him what heck lets try putting the 80's in ourself and save some money, it cost him under 500 and a lunch for me. so that's were he stands. So he is getting tune but the tuner is now backed up and it take a few weeks to get to it.Since i now nothing about injector if they have to be reprogramed or not.Figure i ask forum if it was something easy,so the tuner don't charge him extra for nothing.

Sounds like no recalibration was done, and the PCM thinks he still has 60# injectors in there.

PE kicks in, blows a lot of extra fuel down, and the engine can't burn it all.

Ok. Here's what I don't understand. He changes the pulley, and that will increase his boost by more the double....maybe more. You installed 80 injectors, and then you guys decide to run the car at WOT with not so much as a base tune for the changes? Rock on, at least the weather is nice....

You need to retune it for the larger injectors. I'm surprised it runs as good as it does with out the retune. Until then, its not going to run correctly.
