Default C5 brakes

Who makes a good brake pad for the C5 front calipers? Which ones are quieter, stop better, or make less dust? What about ceramic pads? How are the GM Durastop pads? Thanks for any replies. :chevy

You did not specify the usage of your Vette. Racing - even track days requires quite a different pad than street use. I have tried several varieties of pads on my C-5. I run mostly street duty and numerous auto-X and a track day or two mixed in. The Hawk street and other competition pads will stop you more quickly than the stock GM pads. They are also MUCH more noisy and dusty than the stockers. They also wear the rotors at a faster rate than the stock ones. I have found the best compromise to be the GM ceramic pads. Great stopping , NO noise, and very low dust. :yesnod:

Thanks. Where is the best (cheapest) place to get them, and how much? Are these the durastop pads, or are they something else. I have heard good things about ceramic pads. Are there any down sides to them? Thanks.

Having tried the Hawk HP+, and EBC Greenstuff/Redstuff, I have to say that the EBC Redstuff is impressive in terms of performance, dust, and wear. The Greenstuff does not belong on a C5. HP+ have incredible stopping power, but went through rotors in 10K miles.

Is there a vendor on the forum who I can get the GM ceramic pads from? What is a good price?
