Okay, the springs I have are COMP 918 springs. I have found that they handle a lift up .625; however the majority states .600 and majority rules for me.
The CAM has the following numbers
228/236
.595/.598
114 LSA
The springs are rated to handle this, but will they? I have ran a CAM similar this on 918s. It was 232/236; .588.588 on a 112 LSA. No issues, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
I've heard a few bad stories in regards to the 918's especially with a larger cam. Most people and shops I've talked to have recommended at least the 921's. I'm currently running 926's on my setup and they're awesome. They did put too much stress on my old lifters on my previous setup though and a lifter failed. The stronger you go on the springs, the stronger the lifters, LS7 lifters will do the trick.
Yeah, I am probably just going to sell what I have and keep things stock. I am not afraid of the install, just don't want to spend any more money. I am retiring soon and I want my boys to have what they need.
