Auto trans fluid level check

Then I carefully jacked up the Vette to get the car onto ramps.

I prepared the 'dexron III' fluid, and went about the procedure that I had read in the Forum. Trans at temp, shift through the gears etc. Now it was time to actually check the fluid level. I was a little cautious, having to get under the car whilst it was running, but I had covered all safety aspects with ramps, axle stands and also the trolly jack in position

Guess what, it would appear that there was already too much fluid in the gearbox. As soon as I removed the sump plug, fluid started running out. Was this the reason it was leaking in the first place? I had read of a number of forum members finding just this, Well at least it was 'piece of mind'. I took the opportunity to check the differential level also, and at the same time removed the rear discs and adjusted the hand brake. So job done. It passed the MOT the next day.
