I am interested in you ATI Pinning Kit. I have a motor on the engine stand and an ATI Balancer waiting to go on. Don't you drill the crank before the balancer is installed?

I am close to Chicago and might be able to pick it up. How much do you want? Do you have any extra pins? How many cranks have you drilled with it?

Thanks

Impressive using the dial indicator!! Any axial movement at the balancer is bad. I wouldnt drive the car myself, but Im a the cautious type. You can buy a nice Powerbond balancer for around $200. Theyre made in Australia and theyre a quality piece. Theyre availabe in 10% & 25% underdrive as well as stock size. Heres a pic of mine (25% UD)

If the marks move, then you have a problem.
do you mean make two new timing marks? do i just look to see if they have moved while the motor is off or do i have to use a timing light?

Just make a mark across the front covering the inner and outer rings, and the rubber section. As long as the mark stays in line, the outer ring is not moving. Just check it periodically (with the motor off).

I was going to recommend the Powerbond balancer as well. I have a std. size one now, and when I was NA, I had a %25 UD one. Cost me $160 new, and pinning is a great idea. BTW, if you do replace the balancer, (not saying you need to) it's an excellent time to do a cam swap. About %90 of the work is done by taking off the balancer, and you can realize an easy 25-40 RWHP gain by just a cam change. (and valve springs!)
