Default how to quiet down exhaust

I recently purchased an 00 FRC that has Kooks headers, offroad X-pipe and Corsa sport exhaust. It sounds great, however I draw a lot of attention because it's so loud at higher RPMs. Thinking of putting resinators or cats on but don't want to hinder exhaust flow too much. What would you guys suggest?

BTW I love the forum so far; I have been a member for several months but haven't participated much because I didn't have a corvette till now. I will have to put some pics up soon.

I had nearly identical setup as yours, and all I added was HF cats, which made it legal, and quieted it down a bit. It's still pretty loud, but I could really tell the difference.

With LT headers - those corsa's are still going to scream at WOT. The cats will quiet them a bit

Hopefully it will be a bit quieter; I am not sure my neighbors are impressed with my current setup. Cats might be the way to go then. Any brand that is better than the others?

Maybe consider going to a Ti, I understand they sound very good with the LT's without being too loud.

Default Stock Exhaust

I have a stock exhaust system I would be willing to part with in nearly perfect condition.

High flow cats do not make the exhaust system "legal", that is a misconception.

Whatever... I don't live in CA, and we don't even have tests, so one can do what one wants. A very small freedom, but welcome anyway.

and quieting the sound down is an oxymoron.

Putting on resonators defeats the purpose of the exhaust system.

Of just take it all off and put on a C5Z06 system

I had the same problem Kook's and BB Bullets. Sold them and purchased HF Cat's and used Ti's. Much happier. You can do the same and sell the corsa setup.

WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!! The Ti Z06 exhaust flows as good as any aftermarket system you can get without sounding like school boys camaro... The amount of R&D that went into the Ti exhaust is well.... exhausting.

Seriously, though, Tis have a nice sound when coupled with headers and hi flow cats. Ive owned 2 Z06's now and I went the same route with both cars. Headers, Hi Flows, X Pipe and factory Ti.Classy sound when youre cruising and plenty loud, and almost exotic sounding when you throttle down

I just made this post a few minutes ago in the Z06 section regarding the benefits of Z06 Tis and LTs.

I had Longtubes and Borla stingers on my 98 and it sounded just awesome. But after a while it got old as a daily driver. Headache inducing drone at cruising speeds. And while WOT was entoxicating.....it could also lead to a hearing impairment

I really wish I hadn't sold my original Ti cats. BTW, nice editing, mods.

I have 3 C5s 1 w LGs and Stingers, 1 w LGs and Corsa Tiger Sharks and 1 with Dynamax LTs and Stingers, love em all. Once had Bullets for about a week long head ache! OMG they were allfull! Sold them for 1/2 price to a good ol' boy with no hearing in TN and we were both very happy! Suggest you don't put Bullets on with LTs unless you really, really like very loud and annoying resonance drone!

A set of Ti's are FS right now in parts. 400+S like new

Then do the by-pass before installing

The Tis have another nice feature. As you spend more and more time at wide open throttle they get louder. Not short bursts of WOT but 15-20 minutes at a time. A little louder but still nice sounding at part throttle but they do roar more when the throttle is open. Track duty flows a lot of hot gas through them and it just seems to clean them out over time. Mine had gotten hot enough the chrome tips were blue. Every time I took the car into the dealer they always asked how come it was louder than the other Z06s they worked on.
