The metal peices were still inside the TQ tube, I think he got really lucky and it didnt damage the bearing or the shaft. He said as soon as he heard a noise and it revved up, he pulled over and shut the car down. So maybe him quickly acting on that it didnt have a chance to damage anything, and I think he said he was only going around 30-35 mph. Kinda crazy!

So parts did break, like the bolts?

Once pieces break it would just be a crapshoot if a piece wedges between the ears and the tube or moves aside without catching.

Yes, it snapped a couple of the bolts off and lucky for him nothing got wedged. This is why I would highly recommend people doing this if they have close to 80k miles or more. Or at least take the TT off and inspect them. It doesnt take long to pull the TT off. I see your from Ontario! I have family that lives there, my dads side.
