Default Engine Assembly Dates

Does anyone know how to decipher the LS6 assembly stamps?

My original 2002 engine was stamped "KO57 449"

The new crate motor is stamped "KO53 820"

Now the car was built on 10/30/01

The crate motor had a bar coded tag dated 10/18/01 on the plastic bag.

Typically they did not use the letter I for a date so "K" would be October, the next one is a 0 or O "Ontario?"

Anyone got an inside line on what all the numbers mean?

WB6HRO de KD5VU

Let me know if you break the code. I saved the bar code tag from the create on my new 2002 engine. I have a pretty good idea when it was built and I used the Roadwa tracking report on the engine after it left the factory to my dealer. Bowling Green refused to release one of their engines so mine was built to order at the factory

73 de Dick, dit-dit

ps: Is the car shown in your sig the same car pictured in the new Corvette Fever? Really nice!
