To be clear, you don't want to order headers for a C5 "newer" than yours, you just want to order headers without the AIR flanges. Then you just have the codes tuned out.

No. The '01-'04 have AIR. You have to order for your year to get the correct 02 sensor extensions, then order headers w/o the AIR, or just buy some block off plates for the AIR tubes on the headers.

When you order your headers regardless if you order from LG, or another vendor,"talk to a knowledgeable person on the phone",
& make sure they understand what you want to order.
If your not wanting to run air tubes, make for certain that the air tube units are not welded onto the new headers & that the dip stick location is in the proper location for yor car/setup.

It's not a good idea to buy headers that have air tubes on them
& plan on using block off plates. It is a weld/vibration point on the tube, that more than likely, cause a break in the weld from the vibration of not being hooked up to the air lines.
Good luck.

Can someone explain the purpose of the air tubes? Are there any benefits to keeping them or not? What is the best way to have them "tuned out"?

Thanks in advance.

I've had block off plates on my SW headers for almost 5 years now and the AIR tubes haven't spontaneously cracked. On the other hand, they did crack where they mounted to the clutch housing and they did crack at the point where the tubes are welded to the flanges.
