Default Head/Cam Upgrade, heads help

So after much debate I am going to do a cam upgrade on my corvette. I am going with the TSP228r. I have figured if I leave me current heads in there and upgrade the springs OR if I upgrade to new LS6 stage 2 heads that it will be $900 more for the new heads. I am also doing timing chain, oil pump, rods, lifters, pully. I already have the stock LS6 heads because I have a z06.

So is it worth it to go up to the LS6 stage 2 heads, or will I not gain that much over the stock LS6 heads?

THanks!

Depends who does them, I'd go with TEA, they know what they're doing and have proven results. I tried some from Livernoise in the past and they sucked.

I would stay with your current heads. You can always send them out later. The T4P setup done by Brauer might be a good way to go if you decide to upgrade your heads.

If that $900 includes QUALITY springs, valves, seals and retainers, not that much more than buying those parts alone. They can actually screw up the performance porting, especially under the curve on torque and throttle response.

Good heads=mo flow=mo hp.
Jmo, but I'm a believer that the heads are AS important, if not more important, than cam selection.
I've used the Livernois heads. Not bad, not great. I picked up 110 rwhp when I did heads, cam, headers on a LS1.
If I were having a pair of 243s ported today, I'd go with Advanced Induction or TEA.
I like aftermarket heads.........AFR, Trickflows, Performance Induction, WCCH, ETP (RHS).
RHS has a new head out for the LSx engines.
Maybe contact a reputable vendor (FTI?) and get some info on a head/cam package tailored for your particular application.
