Replaced all my pads and rotors and while the car was jacked up I noticed I was leaking brake fluid from the master cylinder. Wondering if I should just buy a new one from GM or go with this one from Dorman (http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DHB-M630023/) from Summit Racing. I've never heard of Dorman and I did a search but could only find two hits on the product, and neither one said weather or not it was junk. It is about twice as cheap which is appealing to me, but I don't want the part to be CHEAP. Inexpensive is good, but I'd rather pay for a quality product. Any one heard of Dorman or have any experience with their stuff?

I work part time for Advance Auto Parts, and Dorman is a well known, aftermarket supplier. From what I've seen as Detroit is "going lean" with respect to older parts inventories, Dorman is picking up a lot of the slack, and marketing parts and assemblies that were once "dealer only" items.....
Well that's good to know. The only thing that concerned me was that it was almost half as much as the one from GM. Looks like I'll be buying the Dorman.

Believe me, GM is trying to offset their marginal profits from selling cars, by hammering the customers at the parts counter! I recently replaced the hubs, rotors and brake pads on my GMC 4x4. One of the bolts that's used to retain the hubs is in a slightly awkward position, and I rounded the hex a little while removing it. Since this is an important bolt, and I wanted to take no chances on getting an accurate torque on it, I went to the dealer to get a new bolt.
Naturally, they didn't have it on hand, but had to order it...$6 for a simple, high grade bolt. probably $2 for the bolt, $4 for the "thread lock" past that was pre-applied. Anyway, the bolt comes in 2 days later, and when I pick it up, the counterman says, "Are you lucky, between the time we ordered it for you and the time it came in, the price jumped to $14, but we can only charge you 6"!!
Yeah I can definitely understand why there'd be a price difference but twice as much? That's just a little crazy. I've always been in the mind of "You get what you pay for" and paying for something that costs half as much might fail a lot sooner. I dunno, but apparently they're pretty decent!
