I just wanted to mention that I shipped off both samples of 5w-30 oil to Blackstone Labs .. It took me a year to put on 8000 miles... 4000 of those miles were on Mobil 1 and the other 4000 miles were done on Royal Purple. The DIC showed 30% oil life remaining in both cases.. I wanted the samples to be as close to identical as possible.Blackstone Labs will do a full blown analysis and send me the results of both oil samples.. I will post as soon as I get them

Wow, I thought the dusting your duster to dust off the car cover in your Vette was OCD.
I just thought it would be interesting to some of the members to see the real results... There are hundreds of threads on motor oil.. I really don't think there is much of a difference in any modern day full synthetic oil... The prices are another story.. Is it worth another $3.00 or more for a Quart ??? I put in Valvoline Racing full synthetic today and will do another comparison with Castrol Edge.. Wix Filters always.. Call me crazy and puke if you want to Lucky.. I'm not mad at you.. Just spending a few dollars on something that interests me.. and maybe a few others... Next comparison wiil be Prestone antifreeze vs. Auto Zone antifreeze.. and then I'll do Motul Brake Fluid vs. STP Brake fluid I'm up for suggestions on windshield washer fluids

I've got to respect you for that! I'll eagerly await the results!

Dave Have you received the results?
I see that you were trying to keep the samples as similar as possible.
-Is your C7 a daily driver or only when you get the urge?
-Did you have any exaggerated weather during one period or the other?
-Is your C7 a dry sump or wet?
I am a big fan of Royal Purple and use it in other race engines i have. If there is a big difference I am willing to spend the money. My concern is Chevy has directed Mobil 1 for the 2015 Z51. I don't want to violate the warranty.
Having rebuilt a few engines that were only run on Royal Purple you can really tell the difference inside the valve covers, and in the lower end. Piston and crank wear were minor. On the other side of the discussion is Lucas Oil. I have not been happy with it in the past. It turned to ash in the engine and left sludge after one track day (about 300 miles of hard driving).
Thanks again for putting up a thread based off scientific research vs the fluffy stuff the guys giving you grief earlier in the thread are looking
Damn, I hate when stuff like this happens. Members that start threads and never bother to give results or close them off. I've already made my mind up about boutique oils but it would've been nice to see actual results.
I read a few years back Mobile 1 is a longer life oil I'll keep using it and that's up with these people that got weird stuff to say when somebody is try to say something about whatever .There are people out there that think this forum is there's and only there's .Who cares what someone got to say if you don't like it JUST MOVE ON don't have to get all weird about it ..Oil , Corvettes good oil bad oil it's all good ..Sorry I just don't get the fact that there are people the want restrict what other Corvette owner have to say .It's a forum look it up..
imlowr2 - thanks. The results are interesting. I think I will stay with Chevy and keep using Mobil1. Thanks again for the follow up.
Personally, I would stick with the "High Mileage" version of Mobil-1. It doesn't meet the latest standard where the EPA required reduction of certain additives and it is closer to the Mobil-1 that was in production at the time our cars were built.
